Greenhouse Launches ‘Dream Job’ to Empower Candidates and Promote Better Hiring Practices

Share

Greenhouse, the leading hiring platform, has launched Dream Job, a new feature designed to bring clarity, fairness, and intent to a hiring landscape increasingly distorted by AI-driven mass applications. The tool lets candidates designate one application per month as their “Dream Job,” signaling high intent to potential employers and helping recruiters identify genuinely interested applicants amidst the noise.

Already embraced by over 323,000 job seekers and more than 1,200 companies—including NPR, Everlane, Flexport, Guild, and Huntress-Dream Job is part of Greenhouse’s MyGreenhouse candidate portal. It offers a modern, centralized space where candidates can update their profiles once and apply more efficiently, avoiding the tedious and off-putting process that leads nearly half of U.S. candidates to abandon applications that require manual data re-entry.

The need for innovation is clear. Since the release of ChatGPT, Greenhouse data reveals a 102% increase in applications per job, leaving recruiters inundated and many qualified candidates overlooked. According to the company’s 2025 Workforce and Hiring Report, 66% of job seekers now consider the market “extremely” or “very” competitive.

“Job hunting today is like playing a lottery: the odds of being seen are extremely low,” said Jon Stross, President and Co-Founder of Greenhouse. “Dream Job allows candidates to show a position is their first choice—a role they’d decline every other offer for—helping employers identify high-intent candidates. It gives candidates more agency in a brutally competitive market.”

The impact of Dream Job is already being felt. Over 10,000 submissions have been made, with early users reporting quicker, more satisfying hiring experiences. Martin Nguyen, who recently landed a role at Ping Identity, shared: “After flagging my Dream Job, HR reached out to me the next day. Then I had an offer by the end of the week. It was probably the fastest, smoothest, and most satisfying interview process I’ve had.”

Greenhouse’s Dream Job aims to redefine hiring for both candidates and employers by making intent, not just automation or referrals, a key factor in getting hired. Job seekers can access the feature for free through the MyGreenhouse portal, while employers can learn more about participation requirements on the Greenhouse website.
