Payscale has introduced Smart Reporting, a new AI-powered capability designed to simplify compensation reporting and help HR leaders shift from administrative tasks to strategic workforce planning.
The new product by Payscale integrates artificial intelligence technology which leverages decades of knowledge about compensation practices to produce custom reports regarding pay equity, salary benchmarking, performance measures, and market trends. The development is a response to the growing trend of companies abandoning traditional annual salary review systems in favor of continuous and evidence-based approaches to compensation.
Unpredictable economic conditions, dynamic changes in the labor market and salaries make it increasingly difficult for companies to stick to conventional approaches to making compensation decisions. According to Payscale’s report ‘2026 Compensation Best Practices’, currently, 68% of companies view compensation practices as a crucial strategic business driver. At the same time, compensation professionals continue to struggle with manual reporting and spreadsheets that hinder their capacity to produce accurate and up-to-date reports.

Smart Reporting allows to automate the process and eliminate the necessity of technical skills and lengthy manual inputting of data. The product quickly generates reports according to natural language commands from compensation professionals and HR executives. This way, users can get access to current compensation intelligence rather than rely on old-fashioned reports.
“Compensation teams shouldn’t spend their time managing spreadsheets, but focus on pay strategies that attract, retain, and motivate the best talent,” said Payscale Chief Compensation Strategist Ruth Thomas. “At Payscale, our AI is built to make that shift possible. Because it’s built on real compensation expertise and market data, teams can have greater confidence in the output. That’s not something you get from an LLM wrapper.”
The launch builds on Payscale’s broader AI-first strategy, which includes tools such as Smart Price for AI-assisted job pricing, Payge for workflow-based support, and Compass for linking compensation decisions to business outcomes. Together, these offerings are part of the company’s Payscale Intelligence Cloud platform, designed to help organizations make faster, more informed, and defensible compensation decisions.
