ShiftMed and York Hospital Partner to Deliver Agile, AI-Driven Healthcare Staffing

Share

AI-powered healthcare workforce platform ShiftMed has announced a strategic partnership with York Hospital, an independent, non-profit community health system serving Southern Maine and New Hampshire, to build a dedicated community float pool of credentialed local caregivers. Faced with ongoing macro industry pressures to maintain high-quality care while minimizing labor costs, York Hospital will utilize ShiftMed’s on-demand digital infrastructure to intelligently route local clinicians and flexibly fill open nursing shifts as patient volume fluctuates. By combining automated scheduling with granting wider access to a rigorously verified, locally-based pool of W2 healthcare professionals, this partnership intends to enable better shift coverage at the local level, lessen the extreme burnout of permanent employees, and decrease dependence on costly third-party external staffing agencies.

It allows us to expand support for our teams, reduce burnout, and ensure our patients always receive the attentive, high-quality care they deserve. By working in innovative ways with local healthcare professionals, we are strengthening our workforce and deepening our connection to the communities we serve.” Highlighting the systemic value of flexible scheduling for modern hospital administration, Todd Walrath, CEO of ShiftMed, added, “We’re excited to partner with York Hospital to support its commitment to patient care and workforce well-being. Health systems face ongoing pressures to maintain coverage and quality patient care, while managing costs and ensuring staff are supported.
