Wingspan Launches Employee Payroll Beta to Unify W-2 and 1099 Workforces

Share

Wingspan, the operations infrastructure company for contingent workforces with over $8 billion in transaction volume per year, has made an announcement about the beta launch of its Employee Payroll solution in the United States for organizations wanting to manage their W-2 payroll and contractor management for domestic and international contractors all from one system. Sectors driven by service-based operations, including healthcare, field services, insurance companies, and business process outsourcing firms, often use hybrid workforces comprising doctors, claims adjusters, and technicians; however, traditional software systems require operations teams to balance different point solutions for W-2 and 1099 employees. Wingspan’s platform resolves these challenges by consolidating onboarding, identity verification, payroll execution, and regulatory compliance into a centralized compliance engine and unified audit trail, allowing companies to adapt to shifting worker classifications without standing up separate HR software stacks.

Demonstrating this operational impact, a staffing enterprise used the platform to reclassify 1,000 contractors to W-2 employees while saving hundreds of administrative hours, while another healthcare client added a W-2 entity directly inside Wingspan to manage 30,000 nurses for a new engagement. Currently available in beta for U.S. employers, the platform will expand its capabilities with S-corporation payroll entering beta on September 9, 2026, ahead of its planned general availability launch on September 24, 2026. Ultimately, this launch provides growing organizations with a scalable, single-platform architecture to effortlessly manage compliance, optimize payroll efficiency, and support dynamic workforce structures across modern enterprise environments.
