Cognizant Introduces New AI-Era Roles to Bridge Enterprise AI Skills Gap

Cognizant has introduced two new career options in the field of artificial intelligence, which are known as Frontier Certified Engineer and Frontier Business Operator, which are part of Cognizant’s “AI Builder” strategy, through which organizations will be able to generate more benefits using AI. According to Cognizant, there is a difference of $4.5 trillion in terms of potential and achievement in AI technology. Frontier Certified Engineers will work with clients to redesign business processes for AI-enabled operations, while Frontier Business Operators will oversee blended workforces of human talent, AI agents, and automation technologies to drive measurable results.

Supporting the initiative is SkillSpring, Cognizant’s proprietary training platform, which will provide structured learning in AI fluency, process design, data interpretation, and operational leadership to prepare professionals for these emerging roles. Commenting on the initiative, Thirumala Arohi, Senior Vice President and Head of Learning and Development at Cognizant, said, “The question every enterprise is asking is why AI results aren’t showing up yet. The answer is talent and process.” Kathy Diaz, Chief Human Resources Officer of Cognizant, added, “We are making a deliberate bet on the next generation,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to building an AI-ready workforce at scale.
