Wingspan has introduced Wingspan MCP, a new connection that enables finance and operations teams to manage flexible workforce tasks through AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT while keeping final payment approvals and execution within the Wingspan platform. Designed for companies managing 1099 contractors, international contractors, and contingent W-2 employees, the beta brings worker onboarding, payables, payment history, billing, and compliance information into AI-powered workflows. Teams can use their assistants to identify outstanding onboarding requirements, invite workers, review amounts owed and previously paid, prepare draft payables, understand payment histories, and preview upcoming payroll runs without relying on manual exports and cross-system checks.

Wingspan said the MCP connection gives an organization’s own AI assistant permissioned access to relevant workforce records, allowing routine questions and preparation tasks to be handled within the team’s preferred AI environment. The company has built safeguards into the workflow, with assistants required to show proposed actions and receive approval before adding workers or creating draft payables. Payment approval and the movement of funds remain outside the assistant and must be completed in Wingspan. The integration also applies existing user permissions and limits the sensitive information returned to AI assistants. “Your team should be able to ask a question and prepare work for review from the AI tools it already uses,” Wingspan said in announcing the capability. The MCP beta is launching for Claude and ChatGPT, expanding the role of AI assistants in workforce operations while maintaining human oversight over financial actions. Wingspan currently serves more than 300,000 workers and processes over $8 billion in annualized transaction volume.
