Talent assessment platform TestGorilla has unveiled a new suite of AI-driven video interviews designed to replace traditional manual screening calls. Available in both one-way and conversational formats, these interviews evaluate candidates’ job-relevant skills and behaviors using explainable AI that delivers instant, transparent scores—while keeping human oversight at the center of the process.
“Hiring teams are flooded with AI-polished applications, making genuine skill hard to spot,” said Claudia Baijens, VP of Product at TestGorilla. “Manual screening calls are subjective, unscalable, and poor at surfacing real ability. Our AI interviews apply structured, skills-based scoring to every candidate, so recruiters can shortlist with confidence and focus on connecting with top talent.”
Developed by TestGorilla’s in-house Science and IP teams, which include PhDs in psychometrics and industrial-organizational psychology, the interviews and scoring rubrics are validated for fairness and predictive accuracy. Recruiters can review, adjust, or override scores at any time, ensuring transparency and control.

The one-way interview option allows candidates to record short video answers asynchronously, ideal for high-volume screening. Meanwhile, the conversational interview uses a skills-trained AI persona to conduct real-time sessions lasting 6–20 minutes, complete with contextually relevant follow-up questions.
With over 100 role-specific interviews and a Behavioral Competency Profiler covering 21 validated soft-skill areas, TestGorilla aims to bring structure and consistency to talent evaluation. Integrated directly into the platform, these AI interviews give recruiters a unified view of candidate test results and interview performance—delivering a faster, fairer, and more skills-focused hiring experience.
