ZipRecruiter has launched a new feature aimed at solving one of the most common frustrations in today’s job market: applications that disappear into the hiring void. Announced from Santa Monica, California, the company’s latest product, Be Seen First, is designed to help job seekers move their applications to the top of an employer’s list and significantly improve their chances of starting a conversation.
As the recruitment process becomes more and more automated, often receiving hundreds of applications for just a single position, the increased ease and speed for recruitment efforts only threaten to further bury qualified candidates before so much as looking at a single resume. The new offering from ZipRecruiter helps to rebalance this process with more personalization for candidates.
Job candidates will have the ability to enter a short note to describe their interest in the opportunity, as well as answer why they are a good fit for the position, which will then be highlighted as part of Be Seen First, ensuring that the resume moves to the front of the employer’s line of applicants to view. Be Seen First will also allow applicants to demonstrate such unresoune-related assets as interest, drive, and attitude.

“Something as simple as telling a veterinary clinic, ‘I’ve been in pet care for 5+ years, and I’m the person who remembers every dog’s favorite scratch spot. I’m local and could get started right away!’ can make all the difference,” said Megan Allen, Chief Product Officer at ZipRecruiter. “Those few words put your best foot forward and help an employer instantly see who you are. Be Seen First gives job seekers a way to rise to the top instead of starting at the bottom of the pile.”
According to ZipRecruiter, candidates who use the feature are nearly twice as likely to begin a conversation with an employer, transforming passive applications into more meaningful engagement.
Employers also benefit from the added context. A dedicated dashboard surfaces these high-intent applicants first, helping hiring teams prioritize individuals who demonstrate both qualifications and interest. “In a sea of applications, a short, optional note becomes a powerful signal of intent, communication skills, and fit,” said Scott Steinberg, VP of Job Seeker Product at ZipRecruiter.
Be Seen First is now available across tens of thousands of job listings on the platform, offering job seekers a clearer path to visibility—and employers a faster route to the right talent.
