Technology-driven retirement platform Basic Capital has partnered with payroll infrastructure leader Check to enable vertical SaaS companies and HR platforms to embed 401(k) plans natively into their existing payroll software. By connecting Basic Capital’s retirement infrastructure directly to Check’s API layer, deductions, contributions, and recordkeeping execute on unified real-time data, eliminating file-based data exchanges and third-party vendor handoffs. The joint solution provides small and mid-sized businesses with access to modern retirement benefits, including expanded investment choices, an optional self-directed brokerage window, and tax optimization strategies. Explaining the rationale behind bringing retirement services directly into workforce applications, Brandon Angelini, Head of Partnerships at Basic Capital, stated:

“Payroll platforms are increasingly the place where employers expect to manage every part of compensation, and retirement shouldn’t be the exception. Partnering with Check lets us put a modern 401(k) directly into the products employers are already using, instead of asking them to stitch together another vendor.” Reaffirming the focus on empowering platform developers and software providers, Ian Zapolsky, Chief Growth Officer of Check, added: “We built Check so that platforms could create payroll products tailored to the businesses they serve, without having to build the infrastructure themselves. With this new partnership, our partners can offer a 401(k) through Basic Capital without leaving the product they’ve built on Check.” Ultimately, by removing integration friction for SaaS providers, the partnership equips workforce management platforms with a fully bundled 401(k) capability that streamlines benefit administration, enhances employee retention, and drives long-term customer value.
