Coursera and Udemy have agreed to merge in an all-stock deal. This merger aims to create a top global platform for skill discovery and development in the AI era. The combined equity value is about $2.5 billion. This deal brings together Udemy’s AI-driven skills marketplace and Coursera’s network of top universities and industry partners. This will expand choices and benefits for learners, businesses, universities, and governments worldwide. The new company is projected to generate over $1.5 billion in annual revenue.

It also expects to save $115 million in costs within 24 months, improving its long-term financial outlook. “We’re at a pivotal moment in which AI is rapidly redefining the skills required for every job across every industry,” said Greg Hart, CEO of Coursera, highlighting the need for an agile, innovation-driven platform. Hugo Sarrazin, CEO of Udemy, added, “Through this combination with Coursera, we will create meaningful benefits for our learners, enterprise customers, and instructors,” while accelerating AI-powered product innovation, expanding global reach, and unlocking revenue and operating synergies at scale.
