In the face of sweeping federal layoffs disrupting sectors from healthcare to education, new data from iCIMS, a leading talent acquisition technology provider, reveals a surprisingly resilient labor market. The April 2025 iCIMS Insights Workforce Report captures a complex employment landscape, where tens of thousands of skilled public-sector professionals are transitioning into the private job market.

The latest iCIMS data shows that, contrary to earlier forecasts, the job market remains robust: job applications have surged 24% year-over-year, while job openings are up 7% in the same period.
