Finch Launches Benefits API to Unify Payroll and Enrollment Data

Share

Unified employment API leader Finch announced Early Access to Finch Benefits, a major technological extension of its connectivity platform. The launch provides insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and digital benefits platforms with direct, programmatic access to employee enrollment data housed within core Human Capital Management (HCM) software.

The new release expands Finch’s established integration footprint across more than 250 payroll and HR systems to encompass comprehensive benefits administration. Available immediately for ADP Workforce Now and Workday with additional HCM provider integrations scheduled to roll out through the 2027 Open Enrollment season Finch Benefits establishes a two-way sync capability within the unified API sector, reading benefits enrollment records while simultaneously writing employee deductions and employer contributions back to core payroll engines.

“Every carrier, TPA, and benefits platform we work with is trying to solve a similar challenge: find a faster way to onboard clients and act on their data before it goes stale,” said Jeremy Zhang, CEO of Finch. “Combining benefits enrollment with the payroll coverage they already trust us for is the closest this industry has come to a single source of truth for employment data.”

Eliminating Manual Data Exchange in Benefits Administration

Historically, the commercial benefits ecosystem has relied on manual, asynchronous data transfer mechanisms such as CSV file uploads, legacy EDI feeds, and scheduled SFTP drops. These batch processes frequently leave insurance carriers and TPAs evaluating claims and verifying policy eligibility against outdated employee records. While building custom, direct API connections to individual HR vendors offers an alternative, proprietary integrations can cost millions of dollars and require years of engineering overhead.

Finch Benefits replaces fragmented file exchanges with a single employer-authorized API connection. By bridging the gap between enrollment records and payroll line items, the platform automates participant onboarding, dependent verification, and recurring paycheck adjustments.

Key operational capabilities of Finch Benefits include:

Bi-Directional Data Synchronization: Reads complex enrollment parameters while writing precise paycheck deductions and employer contributions directly to payroll systems.

Streamlined Employer Onboarding: Replaces legacy SFTP setups and manual file ingestion with instant, authorized API data feeds.

Expanded Provider Coverage: Extends connectivity across 250+ employment systems of record, launching initially with ADP Workforce Now and Workday.

Real-Time Eligibility Verification: Gives carriers and benefits platforms live visibility into employee status changes, terminations, and dependent coverage.

“We’ve heard from our top sales executives that it’s not the rates that sell our coverage or even our products anymore. There’s not that much differentiation. Life insurance and disability coverage, those things are somewhat standard. So it’s really who can connect, who can do it well, who can exchange their data and make it smooth and easy for their HR team,” said Sherri Bycroft, Director of Benefit Technology Relationships at Prudential.
