Workday has introduced the Military Skills Mapper, a new feature within Workday Recruiting designed to help organizations better recognize, translate, and hire military veteran talent. The tool addresses a long-standing hiring challenge by converting military experience into civilian-equivalent skills, enabling recruiters to more clearly understand veterans’ leadership, technical expertise, and operational discipline. With more than 200,000 service members transitioning to civilian careers each year, the feature helps organizations unlock a highly capable yet often underrecognized talent pool while supporting corporate commitments to veteran hiring.

Embedded directly in a candidate’s Workday profile, the Military Skills Mapper analyzes service background alongside job requirements to generate tailored, editable skill recommendations that resonate with private-sector employers. “Veterans aren’t looking for special treatment — they’re looking to have their skills clearly understood,” said Rod Levy, CEO, Code Platoon. “Veterans bring hard-earned skills — leadership, adaptability, and teamwork — that don’t always show up clearly in traditional hiring processes,” said Joe Wilson, global chief technology officer, Workday. By eliminating translation gaps, Workday aims to drive faster, more accurate, and inclusive hiring decisions.
