CompTIA, the global leader in vendor-neutral IT training and certification, has unveiled AI Prompting Essentials, a new course designed to help professionals across industries build practical skills in working with artificial intelligence. The program, part of CompTIA’s growing Essentials Series, equips learners with the confidence and knowledge to use AI effectively and responsibly in workplace settings.
The course targets professionals at all experience levels and job roles, focusing on areas such as prompt writing, AI collaboration, and ethical use of AI. It blends video instruction, interactive activities, and real-world scenarios to prepare learners for tasks like crafting effective prompts, evaluating AI outputs for bias and accuracy, and using AI to automate workflows and manage multi-step projects.
“AI chatbots are being deployed across the modern workforce to boost employee efficiency and effectiveness, but their impact can be limited when employees are uncertain about how to use them,” said Henry Mann, senior director of product development at CompTIA. “AI Prompting Essentials helps learners become more knowledgeable, comfortable and confident when working with AI in workplace settings.”

The release comes as AI skills continue to gain traction across industries. CompTIA’s AI Hiring Index highlights increased demand for roles requiring AI expertise, while additional research shows that HR departments rank AI as the top area for training investment over the next year.
Built on CompTIA’s Learning Progression Model, the course emphasizes practical application through hands-on exercises and workplace simulations. Learners complete a final 30-minute assessment, and successful participants earn a CompTIA Competency Certificate (CompCert), validating real-world skills rather than just course participation.
AI Prompting Essentials joins CompTIA AI Essentials, introduced earlier this year, which provides a foundational understanding of AI concepts and tools. Together, these offerings expand CompTIA’s portfolio of career-ready learning resources, which also include training in business fundamentals, cloud computing, product management, and soft skills.
By combining research-driven learning design with applied AI training, CompTIA aims to bridge the skills gap and enable professionals to harness AI more effectively in their daily work.
