Playroll has formed a partnership with Expensify in order to help smaller businesses overcome the obstacles that arise in handling employee reimbursement across multiple countries. The partnership integrates the expertise of both parties to enable smaller businesses with enterprise-level automation in handling such operations without facing the challenges usually involved with large scale systems.
As more and more businesses expand across borders, it has become increasingly difficult for them to handle their employees’ expenses due to different laws and taxes among other issues. Historically, they have been required to either hire additional compliance personnel or invest in costly software programs. Playroll and Expensify are seeking to address this gap with a more accessible approach designed specifically for scaling SMBs.
Under the integration, employee expenses submitted through Expensify are automatically routed into Playroll’s payroll platform. The system then applies local tax and regulatory rules across more than 180 countries, classifying reimbursements, converting currencies where required, and flagging potential compliance issues before payments are processed. The result is a single workflow that eliminates manual data entry and reduces administrative burden while maintaining audit-ready records.

“Growing internationally gets complicated when expenses, payroll, and local tax rules collide. We wanted to make that complexity invisible for smaller teams, not something they need to hire specialists for,” said Erez Golan, Managing Director at Playroll.
The integrated solution offers several advantages, including automated application of local tax and reporting requirements, real-time audit trails, local currency processing, and a unified expense-to-payroll workflow. By embedding compliance into the process, the companies aim to help SMBs scale internationally without needing dedicated compliance staff.
