Wellness Workdays Launches BRAVE™ Certified Workplace Program

Share

Wellness Workdays, one of the top experts in workplace wellness, launched a program called “BRAVE Certified Workplace” after an initiative to integrate mental health, psychological safety, and management accountability into the work culture of construction and industrial organizations systematically. The BRAVE (Be aware, Reach out, Actively listen, Validate and inform, and Encourage next steps) acronym is essentially a practical guide for workers to detect mental health issues at an early stage and to help colleagues in need of support connect with the appropriate resources. A workplace will get “BRAVE Certified” when 20% of their employees are trained to BRAVE Frontline level and for every 100 workers, one BRAVE Ambassador is deployed. This peer engagement at the level of employees is guaranteed as it is job-continuing in nature. In pilot testing, the results were impressive; 99% of the workers said that they felt safe enough to talk with a co-worker who was having difficulties. Supervisor in pilot programs were able to pick out those workers who were more susceptible to risks 3-4 weeks sooner than conventional methods were.

The program, built with the help of behavioral health clinicians, safety management professionals, and construction industry leaders, fills a major need in high-risk environments where not only is the physical danger present but also emotional stigma has become a big part in the overall danger to health and safety at work. Emphasizing the urgent necessity of integrating psychological well-being into core safety protocols, Debra Wein, CEO and Founder of Wellness Workdays, stated: “Construction workers experience some of the highest rates of suicide, substance use disorders, and mental health challenges of any profession. Mental health is workplace safety. The BRAVE Certified Workplace program gives organizations a practical roadmap for creating a culture where employees know how to recognize concerns, support one another, and access help early. By embedding these practices into existing safety systems, organizations can strengthen workforce well-being while improving safety, engagement, and retention.” Already adopted by several top national contractors, the program elevates mental health from a temporary awareness initiative into a foundational pillar of enterprise safety and operational resilience.
