Mercer, a business of Marsh McLennan and a global leader in workforce consulting and investment strategies, has partnered with the National Commission on Climate and Workforce Health—an initiative of the Health Action Alliance (HAA)—to launch a new digital tool designed to help employers assess and prepare for the financial impact of climate-related health risks on their workforce.

The Climate Health Cost Forecaster allows organizations to model how rising temperatures, air pollution, and other environmental factors may affect employee health and drive up healthcare expenses. As climate change accelerates, businesses are increasingly challenged by the growing link between environmental conditions and workforce well-being.

“It gives companies a tangible way to assess and plan for the health-related financial risks a changing climate already imposes on their workforce,” said a Mercer spokesperson.

By enabling employers to anticipate cost drivers and mitigate potential disruptions, the tool aims to help organizations make more informed decisions on workforce planning, benefits design, and risk management.

The initiative highlights the evolving relationship between environmental change and human health and underscores the need for strategic foresight as companies face new pressures from both climate and healthcare fronts.
