Points North Launches WageIQ to Simplify Complex Construction Payroll Compliance

Share

Points North has introduced WageIQ, a pre-payroll intelligence platform designed to address the complexity of wage calculations in the construction and trades sector. The solution aims to automate compliance-heavy processes and reduce the administrative burden on payroll teams managing union agreements, prevailing wage rules, and multi-jurisdictional requirements.

Construction payroll has long been characterized by manual processes, including spreadsheets, rate lookups, and reliance on institutional knowledge. WageIQ centralizes labor classifications, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) rates, and wage determinations into a single system, enabling automated and accurate pay calculations before payroll is processed. This approach helps contractors mitigate compliance risks while improving operational efficiency.

“Construction payroll is genuinely one of the most complex payroll environments that exists,” said Keith Pelatowski, Chief Executive Officer at Points North. “Our clients are managing multiple unions, multiple jurisdictions, shifting prevailing wage requirements, and tight compliance deadlines, all at the same time. WageIQ was built to carry that weight for them. At the end of the day, this is about protecting contractors’ businesses and their people.”

WageIQ integrates with existing payroll platforms, handling complex calculations upstream so that clean, compliant data flows directly into payroll systems. Key capabilities include automated prevailing wage calculations based on agency, trade, and project, as well as configurable union wage management that accounts for shift differentials, fringe benefits, and multi-local agreements.

The platform also features intelligent rate selection, analyzing time entry data to apply the highest applicable wage rates, along with multi-jurisdiction support to manage varying regulations across regions. This eliminates the need for payroll teams to manually reconcile conflicting rules.

“The construction industry has been stuck patching together spreadsheets and manual workarounds to solve a problem that purpose-built software should handle,” said Lorie Sweet, VP, Client Delivery at Points North. “WageIQ finally closes that gap. With pre-payroll wage intelligence now working alongside our certified payroll reporting solution, contractors have a single partner for the full compliance lifecycle, from accurate wage calculation before payroll runs through reporting and submission on the back end. No more workarounds. Just a complete, automated compliance loop built specifically for this industry.”
