Teladoc Health has expanded its AI-powered Clarity™ monitoring solution. It now includes a workplace safety feature to tackle the rising threat of violence in healthcare. Using its existing AI tools, the solution supports virtual safety interventions alongside virtual sitting and monitoring.
Workplace violence in healthcare is a serious issue. Over 80% of nurses face incidents, costing hospitals more than $18 billion each year, says the American Hospital Association. The new system uses video and audio analytics. It assesses facial expressions, detects threatening gestures, and identifies aggressive language. It sends alerts to care teams for quick intervention. This solution will launch in leading hospitals and health systems in Q1 2026 through Teladoc’s partner development program.

The system spots specific risks, like intrusive behavior toward nurses or equipment tampering. This allows for proactive steps to protect staff and patients. Andy Puterbaugh, President of Hospital and Health Systems at Teladoc Health, stated, “Healthcare workplace violence is a growing risk that affects team safety, patient well-being, and health system performance.” He added, “Old technology is reactive, relying on human alertness or panic buttons. Our new solution turns insights into action, using AI for early intervention and improved safety in care environments.”
